Everyone screams “term limits!” when they’re mad at Congress.

And they should be mad, average tenure is now over 9 years, with many career politicians dying in office richer than when they arrived.

But here’s the dirty secret the elites don’t want you to know: term limits alone do nothing to fix the real problem.

Kick out a 30-year incumbent, and the lobbyists just buy the fresh face: same money, same influence, different nameplate on the door.

I’ve studied every term-limit proposal since 1990. They all fail for the same reason: they treat the symptom (long tenure) instead of the disease (elite money capture).

There is precisely one rule that breaks the cycle permanently, and it doesn’t require a constitutional amendment, 38 states, or waiting a decade.

It’s the core idea in my book Rare Sense to Save America: Ban all former members of Congress from ever becoming lobbyists, for life.

That’s it. One sentence added to the ethics manual ends the game.

No more revolving door. No more voting for a defense bill and cashing in at Raytheon two years later. No more “consulting” gigs that are legalized bribery.

When the payoff disappears, the corrupt money disappears with it.

Politicians can still serve as long as voters keep electing them, that’s democracy. But the moment they leave office; the golden parachute is gone forever.
