We the People First Act!
A Bill to Permanently End Elite Financial Capture of Public Office
Section 1. Lifetime Prohibition on Paid Influence
No person who has ever served as a Member of Congress, senior congressional staffer (GS-12 and above), or senior executive-branch official (Schedule C or higher) may ever register as a lobbyist, work as a lobbyist, or receive compensation for influencing federal policy for the remainder of their life.
Section 2. Ten-Year Regulatory Cooling-Off Period
No former federal regulator or agency head may accept compensation from any entity they regulated for ten (10) years after leaving government service.
Section 3. Blind Trusts & Stock Trading Ban
All Members of Congress, senior staff, and senior executive officials shall place assets in true blind trusts or sell individual stocks. Direct stock trading by covered officials and their immediate family is permanently prohibited.
Section 4. Pension Forfeiture for Corruption
Any covered official convicted of corruption, bribery, honest-services fraud, or breach of public trust shall permanently forfeit all federal pension and retirement benefits.
Section 5. Effective Date & No Exceptions
This Act takes effect on the first January 3 following passage. It applies to all current and former officials with no waivers, no grandfathering, and no presidential exemptions.

Four clauses that do what term limits, campaign finance reform, and every other “reform” have failed to do for fifty years:

When the money disappears, so do the grifters.
The only people left running for office will be those who actually want to serve, teachers, nurses, business owners, veterans, not career politicians planning their retirement before their first vote.
Washington will scream:
• “We’ll lose expertise!” → Good. Let the experts stay and serve instead of selling us out.
• “It’s unconstitutional!” → Wrong. Federal judges already live under lifetime ethics rules. Congress isn’t special.
• “No one will run!” → Exactly. No one who’s in it for the money will run. Mission accomplished.
This isn’t radical.
It’s a return to what the Founders expected: citizen legislators who serve a term or two and go home, not a permanent ruling class that gets rich off the public.
